This interactive fun online workshop has been designed for young people who are being home educated to show you how you can start your own sideline enterprise to turn something you love doing into a source of income. We will guide you through the key steps you need to go through to start your own youth led business project, including:

  • Working out what business ideas you have
  • Identify what customers you might market your business to
  • How you would make money from your idea

During the workshop you can work on your own business idea if you already have one in mind, or you can choose a fictional fun business idea to apply the steps to if you don't have your own idea yet.

The sessions will be hosted online via Teams, and participants will need to attend (online) with their parent or guardian to help guide them through the exercises and participate safely.

When you sign up you will be sent the Teams login details a few days before the date of the session.

The workshop is being run 3 times and can be attended as a single booking, or if you are super keen to continue to work on your business idea, you can (subject to availability) sign up to more than one workshop and we can run a different version of the activities to help you progress your initial business idea.

About Us:

The Platform Project is an innovative non-profit based in Swindon that helps young people develop the skills, confidence and experience they need to launch their career. We work closely with local authorities, education institutions and local employers in order to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing work ready, capable and confident entry level talent, whilst levelling the playing field for young people who haven't had the opportunity to thrive.

Our unique concept of a 'training workplace' provides an accelerated development environment for young people to access real workplace experiences. The live, structured and practical projects help them break down any barriers they may be facing that are preventing them from transitioning into and succeeding in further education, paid work or self-employment.

Our nurturing and flexible ethos encourages young people to develop their passions into professions, build their CV and work ready skills, enabling them to thrive in a professional environment. This proven development model introduces young people to a range of different career skills and youth led business options resulting in an 89% success rate.
